Billy R. Kemp, 83, of Quitman, MS, passed away on November 28, 2016, at Anderson's Hospital.
He was born on June 3, 1933, to Samuel and Ruby (Harris) Kemp in Clarke County, MS.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was longtime Chief of Police and Public Works Director for the City of Quitman.
Billy is survived by his wife, Barbara Kemp; three sons, Donnie (Melanie) Kemp, Ronnie (Charlene) Kemp, and Todd (Kathy) Kemp; six grandsons, William Byron Kemp, Ryan Christopher Kemp, Garrett John Kemp, Landon Scott Kemp, Jacob Bryan Kemp, and Christopher Brooks Simpson; two granddaughters, Lauren Elizabeth Kemp, and Amanda Danielle Simpson; four great-grandchildren, Tucker Ryan Kemp, Reid Christopher Kemp, Lily Grace Kemp, and Ann Sadie Simpson.
He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Ruby Kemp.
Pallbearers are William Byron Kemp, Ryan Christopher Kemp, Garrett John Kemp, Landon Scott Kemp, Jacob Bryan Kemp, and Christopher Brooks Simpson. Honorary pallbearers are Phillip Johnson, J.G. Kufel, Barry White, Anthony Chancellor, Chris Fagan, Donald Campbell, Ray Robinson, Roger Robinson, Tommy Norris, Donnie Robinson and Marty Hayes.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 30, 2016, 5:00 pm at Wright's Funeral Home, Quitman.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2016, 2:00 pm at the Wright's Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Grady Crowell, Rev. Nick Ulmer, and Rev. Leslie Roberts officiating. Burial will take place in the Odd Fellows Cemetery.
