Dennis Ray Powell, 86, of Meridian, Mississippi, passed away on October 20, 2020, at his residence. He was born on March 20, 1934, to Clovis and Winnie (Robinson) Powell in Clarke County, MS.
Mr. Powell worked as Road Foreman for Clarke County Beat 4 for 30 years. He was an avid farmer that loved working with his cattle and also enjoyed spending his spare time fishing and hunting.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Imelda Powell; step-son, Jimmy (Marilyn) Smith; step-daughters, Elaine Murdoch and Peggy Schorner; grandchildren, Michael (Tory) Shirley, Tara (Tyler) Smith, Josh Smith, and Jason Schorner; nine great grandchildren; nephew, Malcolm Davidson, Jr.; and nieces, Gail Dearman and Joann Stafford Carlee.
He was preceded in death by parents, Clovis and Winnie Powell; brother, Clovis Powell, Jr.; and sister, Louise Davidson.
A private family graveside service was held on Thursday, October 22, 2020, 10:00 a.m. at the New Bethel Cemetery with Rev. Nick Ulmer officiating. Burial took place in the New Bethel Cemetery.
