Graveside services for Helen Harris Lucas, age 89, of Carmichael, MS, were held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at Andrews Chapel Cemetery in Carmichael, MS, with Reverend Kennedy Gray officiating.
Ms. Lucas was born January 20, 1934, in Carmichael, MS, to James and Gertrude Harris. She passed away Thursday, October 19, 2023, at Rush Foundation Hospital in Meridian, MS. She was a lifelong resident of Carmichael and a member of DeSoto Baptist Church. She was employed by and retired from Quitman Knitting Mill. She enjoyed sewing, cross stitching, cooking, and taking care of her family. She was also very interested in genealogy, researching and documenting her family history for several generations.
She is survived by her son, Jimmy Earl Lucas of Carmichael, MS; daughters, Brenda Haney (Jim) of Mustang, OK, and Bronnice Green of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren, Lauren, Danielle, Andrea, Lindsey and Joseph; and several great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy G. Lucas; son, Donald Lucas; father, James Bond Harris; mother, Alma Gertrude Fleming Harris; brothers, Robert Harris, James “Bud” Harris, and Ralph Harris; and grandchild, Allison.
