James (Jim) Edward Costin, born October 12, 1945, in Beaumont, TX, died March 21, 2024, in Meridian, MS at the age of 78.
He was a Christian who was preceded to heaven by his parents, Adelle (Petree) Costin and Joseph (Eddie) Edward Costin, and wife, Cathy Costin.
He will be waiting in Heaven for his only child, son Dewayne Edward Costin.
The last church he attended was Lake Eddins Community Church. He accomplished many things in life. He attended college at West Texas State University in Canyon, TX, and Southern Methodist University in the heart of Dallas, TX, and earned a degree in early childhood development with a minor in business. He spent the majority of his career working in sporting goods with a focus on snow ski technician and gun repairs. He also was part owner of Franklin Buggy Werkes, a car restoration shop in Kansas and an attached hardware store. He retired from Cal Farley's Boys Ranch, spending his last 14 years in the work force running the Boys Ranch general store and working with children of need.
After the passing of his parents and wife, he moved to Lake Eddins, Mississippi, to be close to his son and fulfill his lifelong dream of living on a lake. There he was a member of the Lake Eddins Volunteer Fire Department, giving back to his community until the age of 77.
He will be missed by many cousins and other family members, the many friends that held him in high regard, and his beloved dog Roxy.
Any donations in his memory can be given to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch of Amarillo, Texas.
Jim's memorial service will be at Boy's Ranch. His remains will be buried next to his deceased wife, Cathy, and deceased dog, Foxy.
