James Prentiss Raley, 81, of Quitman, Mississippi, passed away on September 30, 2023, at his residence.
He was born on October 10, 1941, to Ralph and Onie (Webb) Raley in Meridian, MS.
James was a member of Pachuta United Methodist Church in Pachuta, MS. He was a general contractor and proud of many buildings he leaves behind. He loved three-wheeler racing with David, college football, bass fishing, and vegetable gardening. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather that loved spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed.
James is survived by his wife of nearly 55 years, Freddie Lois Raley; sons, Michael St. John and David Raley; daughter, Stephanie Carlisle; granddaughter, Raley (Justin) Lewis; three great-grandchildren, Ella Grace Dearman, Kaulder Lewis, Wynter Lewis; brother, Paul (Barbara) Raley of Meridian, MS; sister, Ada May Southerland of Greenville, MS; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Raley; mother, Onie Raley; and grandson, Christopher Powell.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date and time.
