Jerry Clyde Gunter died peacefully April 25t, 2016, in his home surrounded by his loving family after a hard fought four year battle with cancer. He was 75 years old.
Born May 28, 1940 in Meridian, MS, he was one of the kindest, sweetest and most gentle men to ever walk this Earth. Friendly and generous, he was always ready with a handshake, smile, kind word and a listening ear. He always had a funny story ready to be told. He sacrificed all that he had or wanted for his family.
He is survived by his wife and sweetheart of 47 years Jackie; his mother, Florine Gunter; daughter, Gabrielle; sons, Christian and Adam; his sister, Suzette Brandt, her husband, Ed and children, Todd and Chad; his brother-in-law, Gary "Duke" Sharpe; his sister-in-law Joyce Sharpe; and his beautiful, golden granddaughter, Ariel ("Papaw's Punkin").
He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Clyde Gunter.
He retired from AT&T after more than 40 years and was a long time member of the Bayou State Lions Club. As per his wishes, there will be no funeral. Donations can be made to the First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 137, Quitman, MS 39355.
