Mrs. Kathleen Early Smith (90) of Commerce, GA, passed away on Friday October 18, 2019. Kathleen was born on June 28, 1929, to Marvin and Willie Maude Early in Quitman, Mississippi. She was a beloved sibling to one brother and two sisters. Kathleen married William Doyle Smith in 1948, and the two were married for 63 years. Her favorite hobby was playing golf, where she was a member of the infamous “Golfing Grannies” at Beaver Brook Country Club in Knoxville, TN. Kathleen was an amazing cook and was known for her homemade biscuit and chocolate pies. She was also a member of Homer Baptist Church in Homer, GA.
She is survived by: daughters, Debbie and Jerry Loftice of Commerce, GA, and Kathy Barron of Flowery Branch, GA: grandchildren, Kristi and Jason Johnson of Dacula, GA, Jeremy and Abbie Loftice of Bogart, GA, Molly and Brett Edmunds of Jefferson, GA, and Andrew Barron of Flowery Branch, GA: great grandchildren, Cooper, Audrey, and Elle McKenna Johnson, Owen, Emily, and Juliet Loftice, Logan Burnette and Alaina Edmunds: sisters, Polly Graham of Seymour, TN and Jean Beckman of Meridian, MS,
She was predeceased by her father, Marvin Early; mother, Willie Maude Early; husband, William Doyle Smith; brother, Jack Early, Sr.; and her daughter, Barbara Kathleen Smith.
Visitation will be held at Wright’s Funeral Home in Quitman, MS on Tuesday, October 22, 2019, at 10:00 a.m., with the funeral to begin at 11:00 a.m., in Wright's Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Quitman, MS. Online condolences may be given at www.wrightsfuneral.com.
