Michael Joe Jefcoat, 59, of Quitman, MS, passed away May 10, 2016, due to complications from pneumonia. He was born to Joe and Weeda Jefcoat, Feb. 3 1957, in Gulfport, MS.
Mike’s greatest accomplishments were marrying his wife and raising his two girls. He lived in Quitman most of his life, where he was the official master of parties and fun, voiceover artist extraordinaire, and general best friend anyone could hope to have. Mike was retired from the Clarke County Sheriff’s Department, where he found legitimacy for the love and guardianship he already provided, and a chance to ham it up on stage with his gospel group, The Lawmen. He loved life, laughing and making everyone around him laugh. He was a member of the United States Air Force.
Mike has joined his much beloved father, Joe P. Jefcoat. He is survived by his wife, Patricia, and his two daughters, Ashley (Melissa Webster), and Amanda (Tobias Sumrall); his mother, Weeda; his sister, JoAnn (Butch) Lewis; his brother, Roy; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and wonderful friends.
Services for Mike were held Friday, May 13, 2016, at Wright’s Funeral Home. He was laid to rest at his home, the Lazy J Ranch in Clarke County. Honorary pallbearers were Mickey Long, Todd Kemp, Johnny Cook, Wayne Phillips, Steve Phillips and Kenny Allen. A celebration of his life - a party he would definitely approve of - will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, his family asks that live plants be donated for his memorial garden at 142 County Rd. 159, Quitman, MS.
