We mourn the loss but celebrate the life of Murphy Hudgens Webb who died peacefully and surrounded by family and friends on July 23, 2016, at the age of 72. Murphy, born on November 13, 1943, was a native of Port Allen, LA, where he graduated from Port Allen High School in 1962 and attended Southeastern University in Hammond.
He then worked for a variety of companies over the next three decades including the Teamsters, offshore oil drilling, refractory services and City of Baton Rouge before retiring and moving to Quitman, MS.
After moving to Quitman in 2004, he developed a large circle of friends and he endeared himself to those he met and created lifelong friendships centered on his love of cooking and entertaining his friends and family. He especially enjoyed his lifelong hobbies of hunting, fishing and supporting LSU athletics.
Murphy is survived by his life partner, Amelia Hudson; children, Melissa Ann Webb and Rick Webb of Baton Rouge; sisters, Jackie Cook of Liberty, MS and Ginny LeBlanc of Brusly, LA; grandchildren, Brennen Bradley, Kara Sabine and Trent Webb; and numerous nieces and nephews. Special thanks are sent to nephew, Lane and Connie Cazes, who were devoted to Murphy until the end.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Hillard Andrew and Connie Webb of Prairieville, LA; and his sister, Jerry Charleville of Brusly, LA.
A special thank you is sent to Home Health and Hospice agencies for their kindness and benevolent care. Our deepest gratitude goes to Ronnie and Lenan Holloway who were quietly vigilant and present for our family.
