Oleane Brock Ivy Ivey Whitt, 86, of Quitman, Mississippi, passed away Saturday morning, October 14, 2023, at Wisteria Manor Personal Care Home in Shubuta, Mississippi.
She was born on February 20, 1937, in the Energy/Hopewell Community and was the daughter of Elbert and Maudie (Boykin) Brock.
Oleane is survived by her family: daughter, Kay Ivy (Jeff) Moore of Enterprise, MS; son, Danny (Robyn) Ivy of Meridian, MS; step-daughters, Lorrie Ivey (Mark) Randazzo of El Paso, Texas, and Tracy Ivey Lowry of Chaparral, New Mexico; step-son, John Ivey of Buckeye, Arizona; sister, Margie Ree Slay; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She also dearly loved her little Chihuahua, Angel.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elbert and Maudie (Boykin) Brock; husbands, Harold Ivy, Ernest Ivey, and George Whitt; two grandsons, Jeffery Moore and Joshua Randazzo; sister, Justine Godwin; and a brother who died at birth.
Oleane was a hard worker all her life and loved attending and being a part of her home church, Hebron Ridge Baptist Church in Quitman, Mississippi, before she became unable to attend services. She received her Cosmetologist's license in the 1970s and ran her hair salon from her home for many years. She was also employed with Quitman Knitting Mills in the Sewing and Cutting Departments, the Dye Lab, and until its closing in the late 1990s, worked in the Credit Union Office. She then worked part-time in the East Quitman Water Department helping in the office when needed. She loved being around people, going on the Community Bank's tour bus trips, cooking, gardening, working in the yard, and growing beautiful flowers before she began experiencing the on-set of Dementia/Alzheimer's.
Visitation was held on Monday, October 16, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Wright's Funeral Home in Quitman, Mississippi. The Funeral services were held at Wright's Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 p.m. immediately following visitation. Rev. Charles Albrook, her Pastor, officiated the service.
Burial took place in the Hebron Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery, Quitman, Mississippi.
Pallbearers were family and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff at Wisteria Manor Personal Care Home, Hospice Care Group, LLC in Quitman, and Wendell Carney's Medical Staff for their wonderful care and aid given to Oleane during her illness.
