Oliver Houston Hopkins Jr., 83, of Quitman, Mississippi, passed away on June 29, 2023, at Andersons Regional Medical Center.
He was born on January 22, 1940, to Oliver and Etoile (Loper) Hopkins in Meridian, MS.
Mr. Hopkins was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church of Quitman, MS, where he was Superintendent of Sunday School for as long as most of us can remember. Oliver was an educator for the Quitman School District for over 35 years. He loved gardening, reading, family and football.
Oliver is survived by his wife, Rosemary Hillman Hopkins; son, Oliver Houston "Hop" Hopkins, III; and grandson, Oliver Houston "Skip" Hopkins, IV.
He was preceded in death by his father, Oliver Houston Hopkins, Sr.; mother, Etoile Loper Hopkins; and brother, Thomas Davis Hopkins.
Visitation was held Saturday, July 1, 2023, after 2:00 p.m. at Wright's Funeral Home, Quitman, Mississippi.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 1, 2023, 3:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Michael Evans and Rev. Ron Stanley officiating.
Burial took place in the Odd Fellows Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Donald, Fred Blackledge, William Read, Bobby Fulcher, Mark Beavers and Scott Evans.
