Rosa M. “Bunny” Galistel, 82 of Meridian, Mississippi, passed away on September 26, 2023, at Anderson Regional Medical Center
Ms. Galistel, affectionately known as Bunny, was born on Easter Sunday, April 13, 1941, at home to Elsie and Carl "Bud” McGrew. She grew up in Stonewall, MS, and graduated from Stonewall High School in 1959.
She worked as a clerk in Stonewall, Value Mart, Bill’s Dollar Store, and Bargain Box before she retired. After retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her family and her beloved Golden Retriever, Lexie. She also loved her ladies' group at Highland Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son, Steve Galistel, and his wife, Donna; her daughter, Crystal Watkins, and her husband, Wiley; a grandson, Alex Galistel; a granddaughter, Alexis Galistel; a niece, Amy Depuydt, and her husband Tom; a sister-in-law, Paula Sue Galistel; a great nephew, Michael Depuydt; a great-niece, Katie Depuydt, and a host of cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Carl A. McGrew, Jr., and Elsie Rolison McGrew, and her husband, David Galistel, along with a nephew, two brothers-in-law, and a sister-in-law.
Funeral services will be at Union Baptist Church on Hwy 145S in Meridian on Friday, September 29, 2023. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m., with the funeral at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Union Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the ER staff, the Hospital Medicine Team, the Telemetry floor staff, and the CIS nurse practitioner team at Anderson’s Hospital for their love and care during her brief illness. Also, they would like to thank the Diversicare staff for watching over her for the last few years of her life.
