It’s almost the season for Operation Christmas Child! The Samaritan’s Purse project Operation Christmas Child collects shoebox gifts- filled with fun toys, school supplies and hygiene items- and delivers them to children in need around the world to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way. For many of these children, the gift-filled shoebox is the first gift they have ever received.
Since 1993, Operation Christmas Child, the world’s largest Christmas project of its kind, has collected and delivered more than 198 million shoebox gifts to children in more than 170 countries and territories. In 2022, Operation Christmas Child hopes to collect enough shoebox gifts to reach another 11 million children.
During National Collection Week (November 14-21, 2022), Samaritan’s Purse will collect the gift-filled shoeboxes at more than 4,500 drop-off locations in all 50 states and Puerto Pico. First Baptist Church of Quitman will be the location for Clarke County with Dianne Sellers as Drop-off Leader. At a later date the drop-off schedule will be published.
If you have not packed a shoebox before and need guidance, then you can check online at samaritanspurse.org/occ. If your church does not participate in Operation Christmas Child, you can still help by packing a shoebox and returning to First Baptist Church. The plastic shoeboxes are sold at Hobby Lobby or any clear, small plastic container is acceptable.
Help spread the message of Jesus around the world by your shoebox. Let’s collect more than 3,000 shoeboxes this year for Clarke County. With your help this can be accomplished.
