The Bearcats had a remarkable season this year with back-to-back wins from the start of the season, but no one could have expected what the Panthers had in store for them.
It started with Savion Sholes, Isaiah Satcher, Malike Davis, and Jaleil Cameron lining up on the 50 for the official’s coin toss. The Panthers chose to receive the ball at the kickoff. The Bearcats kicked the ball to the Panthers’ 10 yard line. Cameron, on the carry for the Panthers, ran the ball to the Panthers’ 38 yard line. A tough opposition front the Bearcats pushed the Panthers back to their 20 yard line. The Panthers decided to make the hard call and punt the ball back to the Bearcats’ 35 yard line. The Panthers gained control of the ball at the Bearcat 20 after a fumble on the play. Satcher ran the ball into the endzone for a touchdown for the Panthers, and a successful PAT from Keiten Pearson made for the Panthers’ 7 point lead against the Bearcats. The Panthers kicked the ball from the 50 to the Bearcats’ 40 yard line, and at the end of the first quarter, the Panthers’ defensive line pushed the Bearcats to their own 35 yard line.
In the second quarter of the game, the Bearcats pushed the Panthers back to their 45. A long pass to Cameron Laphand was good, and Laphand scored a touchdown against the Bearcats. Pearson’s PAT was good. The score was then Panthers 14 - Bearcats 0. There were no significant advances from either team at the end of the second quarter before halftime.
After the halftime, the Panthers set up to receive the punt from the Bearcats. The Bearcats punted the ball to the Panthers’ 27 yard line. The next play saw the Bearcats draw blood against the Panthers as the Bearcats crossed the Panthers’ endzone, but the Panthers managed to block the attempted PAT. The score was then Panthers 14 - Bearcats 6. The Panthers returned the favor. After the kick from the Bearcats, the ball was caught and run to the Bearcats’ 35 yard line. A long pass from the Panthers was successfully received by Damarion Buxton for another touchdown. Pearson’s PAT was good. The Panthers pushed further ahead with a score of Panthers 21 - 6.
The final touchdown of the game started off with Joshua Turner running the ball to the Bearcats’ 12 yard line. The final touchdown was delivered by Satcher, and a successful PAT from Pearson made for a final score Panthers 28 - Bearcats 6. The Panthers exhausted the Bearcats, holding the Bearcats at the 50, but it was all the Bearcats could do to keep the Panthers from scoring in the final quarter.
The Panthers won the game. This game did something other than ruining an undefeated season for the Bearcats. It also provided the Panthers with an invite into the playoffs as the Panthers now qualify for the playoffs! There is no official word if the Panthers will host or travel in their next game as the game itself has not been scheduled.
