After the tragic loss of one of their senior members, Amelia Crowell, in a car accident on June 1 of this year, the Quitman High School chorus decided to commemorate her with a song dedication.
“Basically, we wanted something to remember such a sweet, good musician that made an impact on our lives,” declared Choral Director Robby Daniels. “Amelia will always have her chair in the soprano section and music reminding us of her.”
Her fellow senior classmates believed that the most fitting song to dedicate to her memory would be “Hopelessly Devoted to You” since she was so devoted to both her singing and acting. It is the song she sang at the 2024 Spring Theatre Showcase and is the perfect reminder of her dedication and spirit.
“She is dearly missed in our chorus everyday but will never be forgotten,” proclaimed Daniels.
The chorus is very grateful to Ava Grace Reynolds for taking charge in getting the project completed and to Kelly Holloman at “Just TEEsin’” in Quitman for designing the memorial stickers in Amelia’s memory to be placed on the new copies of the song.
