Quitman School District is celebrating its focus on reading and community with the 10th Annual Community Book Read.
On Monday, October 24th, QSD will kick off another event with an emphasis on enhancing learning, growth, and community through reading. We are also partnering with our parents and community as we build a love for literacy!
This year, we are encouraging our students, teachers, and community to read Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White. This book also aligns and supports our state standards for social and emotional learning.
The “QSD Community Fair” event will take place Thursday, October 27, from 5-8 p.m. at the QHS Practice Field.
Our Community Book Read Team has planned daily activities that will be sure to spark excitement in our students, our staff, and our community!! You don’t want to miss the finale!
Our theme is "With the Right Words, You Can Change The World." This is so important to every student and adult as we are Empowering Excellence!
We want your involvement! Each student will have a copy of the book to read with their teachers and/or parents. During this week, we will kick-off the week with lots of fun things to do that connect with the book including door decorating contest, students will learn about spiders in science, all will dress up as their favorite character from the book, students can participate in the Charlotte’s Web Art Contest, the QSD Community Fair will be a treat, and many other fun activities for our kids to get involved in.
Door judging Contest is on Monday, Oct. 24. Student Art Contest is on Thursday, Oct. 27, and the QSD Community Fair is on Thursday, Oct. 27, from 5-8 p.m. at the Quitman High School Practice Field. Free entrance. We need prizes for students (K-12), drinks for ring toss, Little Debbie snack cakes for cake walk, and paper plates for art stations.
