“Do not slack when it comes to senior year. Most importantly, do not let anyone try and tear you down.” These are powerful words of advice from QHS Valedictorian Sara James.
While at Quitman High School, Sara was a member of various clubs and activities. She was active in Beta Club, National Technical Honor Society, Health Occupations Students of America, Mu Alpha Theta, National Honor Society, Multicultural Club, and Future Business Leaders of America. These clubs kept Sara involved with her peers and allowed her to expand her knowledge in many areas.
After graduating from Quitman High School, Sara plans to attend MCC. She will begin at MCC in the fall but will be taking some college classes online this summer. This will allow her to complete all of her prerequisites in one school year. Afterwards, she will apply to the Dental Hygiene program and complete her associates degree.
Sara has obviously been a good student who has stayed motivated and held herself to high standards. When asked what her greatest motivation was, she stated that her parents were her biggest supporters. They motivated her the most. Sara has to credit herself as well because she wanted to strive to do her best and achieve excellence.
When asked what advice Sara could pass along to future QHS seniors, she said “Remember that time goes by fast, so try and enjoy it even if there are rough times”. Being successful in school is often a tough task, and there will be many rough days, but these years are also supposed to be a happy time. So, as Sara stated, take time to enjoy!
Sara feels prepared to begin the next chapter in her life upon graduating from Quitman High School. She wants to especially thank the teachers that have had a hand in her educational journey. Sara is a wonderful student and person and there is no doubt she will conquer all of her dreams and aspirations for her future.
