Quitman High School decided to help pep up and inspire its students for the testing season by hosting a pep rally to honor its students who made the grades to make honor roll and had perfect attendance in the third nine weeks. Each student received a bag of popcorn as they entered the gym for the “pop rally” event.
Principal Molden was thrilled about the event and the impact it can have on the kids and encouraging them.
“This event was organized by the PBIS team,” explained Molden. “It was organized because we need to do things at this point in time of the school year to help motivate students to take the state tests and motivate students to come to school. After Covid, a lot of students got waivers and everything and testing was set to the side. Now, testing is back. We have to reenergize kids to refocus and make sure they understand just how important it is that they do well on the tests because it’s going to count towards graduation. When the PBIS team came and asked me if they could do it and they had it all put together, of course I said yes. The kids liked it and were excited all day, and it was a great event. I’m really excited to see how the kids do on these upcoming tests.”
In order to inspire the students, Shonte Haile came to talk to all of the students in attendance so that they can know what all they can achieve when they focus and do well in schools.
They also honored multiple students for their great achievements in the third nine weeks.
“The ones who were on honor roll, showed growth on our last district assessment, and had perfect attendance were all called,” continued Molden. “I know they did a good job, and I know the kids appreciated it.”
Great job to all the students who were honored at the “pop rally,” and may they do a great job this upcoming nine weeks with their state tests and attendance.
