Following the purchase of the Quitman pellet plant, wood pellet supplier CM Biomass is honored to have been so warmly welcomed to Quitman by the community. Vows continuous investments in both plant and relationship with the residents of Quitman.
Doing business in the US is all about community. And for the wood pellet supplier CM Biomass having bought the Quitman Pellet Plant in February 2022 the goal was obvious: to establish a well-run business in harmony with the people of Quitman.
To this end, CM Biomass has invested more than 15 million dollars in improvements to raise efficiency at the plant at the same time keeping the concerns of the neighbors at heart: adding new equipment and ramping up production while keeping noise and dust to a minimum has been equally important.
Installing soundproof curtains and even small things as piling product to create soundwalls are some of the steps taken to make the plant as friendly as possible.
These improvements are being done in close coordination with the town. To establish a strong business in Quitman has meant engaging proactively with the residents of the town. Something Todd G. Bush, head of CM Biomass’ North American operations, has taken seriously, as he and the local CM Biomass team invited Mayor Watkins to tour the plant.
“We’re thrilled to be a part of the Quitman community, engaging in meaningful conversations with our neighbors and helping create jobs and value for the people living here. Having recently met and toured the plant with our mayor, Mr. Steve Watkins, we are well on the way to make sure, the plant runs on mutual respect and understanding with our close surroundings,” according to Bush.
Having these conversations is part of why Quitman is the perfect place to be. And, why it is worth investing in the area.
“Having big, international companies come to Quitman and invest in our community, serving up jobs and ensuring all public safety measures are met, presents a great opportunity for the citizens of Quitman and beyond. The folks at CM Biomass are attentive to our needs and have shown great initiative in inviting myself and our Alderman to tour their facility. We’re more than happy to have them be a part of our community, once again proving Quitman is a great place to live, work, and play,” says Steve Watkins, Mayor of Quitman.
The wood pellet plant receives the residual products of nearby sawmills and upcycles them into highly efficient energy sources often used in Europe.
The Quitman plant is slated to create some 35-40 jobs and additionally 100-150 jobs with local sawmills, truckers, construction workers and other related businesses.
