The Quitman Woman’s Club held their annual Youth Art Cupcake Reception and Awards Ceremony on Thursday, February 2, 2023, at 3:45 p.m. in the Parish Hall of First United Methodist, Quitman. Art award winners, along with their guests, were served cupcakes and punch by clubwomen followed by the presentation of Art Awards and recognition of first, second, third and honorable mention winners. Over 85 honorees and guests were in attendance. Those receiving first and second place awards will advance to the District Awards Competition held in March. The Quitman Woman’s Club appreciates the support of the Quitman School District, Quitman Public Library and Private Art Instruction of Mrs. Margaret Evans for their participation in the annual QWC Youth Art Program. The program was led by Mrs. Becky Watkins, President, with an opening prayer given by Rev. Mike Evans of FUMC. Mrs. Elaine Read served as our 2023 Quitman Woman’s Club Arts Chair and presented the awards, with assistance from Art Committee members, Mrs. Judy Roberts, and Mrs. Meredith Carney.
