I once read this (somewhere – can't remember where): “The life of the heart is a great mystery." Think about your heart for a moment. We describe a person without compassion as heartless. We call our deepest hurts heartaches. Generous people are big-hearted. A truly evil person is black-hearted. Saints are said to have hearts of gold.
