The Book of Deuteronomy is basically made up of three great speeches of Moses to Israel after the 40-year period of wilderness wanderings just before his death. As he speaks, he uses strong covenantal language – the “either/or,” “if/then” aspects of living in continuous relationship with the Covenant Maker.
