Funeral services for Rev. Robert Leslie Roberts, age 95, of Shubuta, MS, were held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 14, 2025, at Shady Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church in Quitman, MS, with Rev. Mark Thead and Rev. Travis McManus officiating. Visitation was held for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment followed in the Shady Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery.
Bro. Les was born March 8, 1930, in Melvin, AL, to James “Hub” and Mary “Cattie” Roberts. He passed away Friday, April 11, 2025, at his residence in Shubuta, MS.
Bro. Les was truly a man of God. He was never ashamed of his Savior and spent most of his life telling others about Him. Having pastored for over 60 years, he served at numerous churches in Mississippi and Alabama, including Victory Grove PH Church, Shady Grove PH Church, Water Valley PH Church, Pleasant Ridge PH Church, and Faith Chapel. Even after retirement, he never passed up an opportunity to tell others how the Lord blessed him and his family.
He is survived by his sons, David Roberts (Sandy) of Quitman, MS, Danny Roberts of Shubuta, MS, and Keith Roberts (Hope) of Quitman, MS; brother, Wayne Roberts (Sharon) of Quitman, MS; sisters, DuAnne Roberts Roberts of Melvin, AL, Bobbie Fay Roberts Atwood of Wilmer, AL; grandchildren, Brad Roberts, Abigail Herrington (Jordan) and Adrian Roberts; grandson-in-law, Robert Coleman; great grandchildren, Sarah Grace Coleman, Caroline Coleman, and Lily Herrington.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Francis Robinson Roberts; granddaughter, Amanda Coleman; father, James Hubert “Hub” Roberts; mother, Mary Catherine “Cattie” Smith Roberts; and sister, Agnes Roberts Gable.
Serving as pallbearers were Adrian Roberts, Brad Roberts, Mark Roberts, Cleve Roberts, Sam Robinson, and Jordan Herrington.
