A road sign was placed on County Road 262 off of Highway 145 South on Saturday, July 1, in memory of Dan Hamilton Williams. Mr. Williams once served on the Economic Development Board of Clarke County.
“About four years ago, the Economic Development Board called me about doing a sign in memory of him and asked if it was okay,” explained Barbara Williams, Dan Williams’ wife. “They had put in for it right before Covid, and it was a couple years later that they heard back that it had been approved.”
She is thankful that they chose to honor her husband for all the hard work he put in during the years that he was on the Economic Development Board for Clarke County.
“He was always willing and ready to work with them on whatever their projects were,” continued Williams. “They said he had brought different things to the meetings for them—bring ideas and stuff in with him. I’m just honored that they asked to do this and put up that sign in memory of him, and it was on the road right around where we used to live.”
A ceremony officially presenting the sign was held on July 1.
