QSD's SWAT classes collaborated in a new community service project with school and community to build a Blessing Box. A Blessing Box is a box that contains donated non-perishable food.
Anyone in need may take an item(s) from this box as a blessing from our students and community. Anyone may donate items as well to help bless others. "Take what you need and leave what you can."
The very first Blessing Box is located outside of the Quitman Public Library.
Many people came together to make this wonderful community service project possible – Quitman Mayor Steve Watkins, the Clarke County Board of Supervisors, Superintendent Dr. Minnie Dace, Quitman School Board members, the SWAT students who fundraised to help provide the supplies to build it and donated the first cans of food, Mr. Howard Crocker from the Quitman Building Supply Store who donated the posts, and Mitchell Kelly and Carol Rhodes who constructed the box.
A second Blessing Box is in the works that will be placed outside of the Quitman Police Department. Please donate if you can. May this be a blessing to our community!
