The Enterprise Bulldogs (1-0,0-0), played the Richton Rebels (0-1,0-0), in a non-conference away game this past Friday. The Bulldogs, fresh off a nail- biting 36-30 win against Sumrall the previous week, were looking to continue their winning streak. The first quarter opened up with excitement as Richton’s Za'darius Mitchell received the opening kick and returned it for an 82 yard touchdown return putting the Bulldogs in an early 6-0 hole. The Bulldogs retaliated as Eli Wakeford-Smith returned the next kick to the Richton 14 yard line. With great field position, the Bulldogs were able to punch the ball in with a Chris Milsap 6 yard touchdown run and Derrick Moore’s successful 2 point conversion run placing the Bulldogs on top 8-6. Looking to keep the Bulldogs on top, the defense forced Richton to fumble on the next drive and a Zack Wilkerson recovery set the Bulldogs up at the Richton 40 yard line. The first play of the drive quarterback Dalton Baxley connected with Eli Wakeford-Smith on a 40 yard touchdown pass, but a failed 2 point conversion attempt only left the Bulldogs up 14-6. The Bulldog defense looking to continue their success forced another fumble that was recovered by Enterprise’s Cameron Keith on the Richton 28 yard line. On the first play of the drive, Derrick Moore scored on a 28 yard touchdown run that was capped off by a successful 2 point conversion run by Dalton Baxley, putting the Bulldogs up 22-6 in the first quarter. With momentum in favor of the Bulldogs, the defense forced a quick 3 and out punt which was received at the Enterprise 24 yard line. The Bulldogs would not be allowed to score though, as Richton’s defense forced a fumble and recovered it. The Bulldog defense stepped up, however, as they forced another fumble which was recovered by River Kidd on the Richton 6 yard line. A quick 6 yard touchdown run by Lane Kennedy, and successful 2 point conversion pass from Dalton Baxley to Lane Kennedy placed the bulldogs with a 30-6 lead. The first quarter came to an end with Richton on the Enterprise 45 yard line.
After a few short gains, Richton’s progress was cut short as the Bulldogs forced a turnover on downs. The Bulldogs started their drive on their own 8 yard line and drove down field for an impressive 92 yard touchdown drive capped off by a Derrick Moore 4 yard touchdown run and successful point after touchdown kick by Dalton Baxley. With not much time left on the clock, the second quarter came to an end with the Bulldogs up 37-6.
The third quarter opened up with Enterprise receiving the opening kickoff and running it to the 50 yard line. The Bulldog offense continued its success with a 50 yard touchdown drive capped off by a 1 yard touchdown run by Zack Wilkerson, and successful point after touchdown kick by Dalton Baxley putting the Bulldogs up 44-6. Not wanting to go down quietly, Richton drove down field on their next drive and scored on a 25 yard touchdown pass from quarterback Kyle Earwood to wide receiver Kolby Walley. A failed 2 point conversion pass attempt by the Rebels put the score at 44-12. Enterprise found a way to respond back as the offense marched 64 yards down field and capped off the drive with a Chris Milsap 37 yard touchdown run. A failed point after touchdown kick kept the score at 50-12. The third quarter ended with Richton having the ball on their own 46 yard line.
Richton continued their success and scored on a 49 yard touchdown pass from Kyle Earwood to wide receiver Za’darius Mitchell but a failed 2 point conversion kept the score at 50-18. Richton’s defense tried to keep momentum in their favor as they forced Enterprise to punt on their next drive. The Bulldog defense responded back by forcing a fumble which was recovered by Jordan Weir on the Richton 25 yard line. Enterprise then scored on a 13 yard touchdown run by Russell Hood, but a failed point after kick made the score 56-18. With not much time left on the clock, Richton failed to score and the game ended with Enterprise on top 56-18.
The Bulldogs (2-0,0-0), will now look to continue their success as they travel to play against the Stringer Red Devils this Friday at 7 o’clock. Come out and support our Enterprise Bulldogs.
