I recently read about the founding fathers of the United States who began the development of the new country fresh from the battlefields where they defeated the Redcoats. The gist of the tale was that they had to continue to fight to keep that hard-earned freedom. That is still true for us today, and maybe even more so.
Freedom touches us in so many areas of life, and we have to fight to keep it in more areas today because we have more areas where it can be hindered or even taken away. One example is in the area of health care. In 1776, health care was simple with most treatment at home by family members and home remedies. Today, Big Pharma and their political friends dictate what, when, and how any given ailment can be treated. Freedom from that tends to be to refuse it and go back to the old ways of our ancestors.
Fortunately, we are seeing some reversals of freedom-imposing actions by the woke folks on religion, basic gender as male or female, and treatment of children regarding gender. However, this has been and continues to be an ongoing fight within the courts and some schools. There are even places where parents have to diligently fight to keep their freedom to be parents in raising their children as they feel led.
Anything good in our lives does not just stay good. Right now the “prince of the air,” AKA Satan, is in charge of everyday living unless we knock him out of the way through Holy Spirit given power. Keeping freedom in life really comes down to the spiritual fighting that we do on our knees and in our churches, bible studies, etc. Freedom is given to us by God, and we have to look to Him to keep it.
