The Clarke County Board of Supervisors voted Monday, April 4, to reject all bids for the old Quitman Knitting warehouse property after bidders had questions and complaints with the advertisement of the property and bid specs. In the March 7 meeting, bids were opened but Supervisors took the bids under advisement.
Those bids included:
a. James Edwards - $850,000
b. Randy Lout - $650,000
c. Quitman Tank Solutions - $205,000
d. Cordova Constructors - $100,000
Bids are now being readvertised with a minimum of $700,000 to be accepted until May 16. See legal notice on page 10 of this week’s Tribune.
In other matters, the Board voted to approve:
To send one dispatcher to class in Biloxi in April
To send EMA Director David Sharp to a MEMA meeting in May, a debris management class in April, and a Civil Defense class in Pearl in May
To hire Alex Coleman for the Enterprise School Resource Officer
To hire McKenzie Carpet Cleaning to clean all carpets in the courthouse
To accept the lowest bid by Master Woodworks for $13,770.90 to make repairs to the Shubuta artesian well gazebo. The second bid was from DP Construction for $15,770.90.
To accept the lowest bid by Southern Fence for $29,950 to refence the Stonewall Ball Field on River Road. The second bid was from Bonner Fence for $32,225.
The meetings are open to the public and are held every first and third Monday of every month at 9 a.m. in the board room.
