Mississippi’s Dandy Dozen was named by the Clarion Ledger newspaper last week. This is the highest honor that Mississippi high school football players strive to receive. The squad is led by Mississippi’s top-rated player in Choctaw County’s Caleb Cunningham. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound wide receiver is an Alabama commit.

Mississippians came home with five medals from this summer’s Paris Olympics. The United States led the medal count with 40 gold and 126 total medals. China is fast becoming the U.S.A.’s chief rival as they also took in 40 gold medals but only brought home 91 total medals.

Georgia was predicted to win the Southeastern Conference football title in the annual preseason football media poll that was conducted last week in Dallas at SEC Media Days. Texas, Alabama, Ole Miss and LSU followed the Bulldogs in the poll. Missouri, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Texas A&M and Auburn round out the top 10.
