“Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” (Galatians 6:2) There are probably few things that grab our hearts as strong as a hurting animal. We see a dog hopping along on three legs, a deer that has been hit by a car, or an animal caught in a trap, and our hearts weep with a deep sense of sorrow and empathy.
