No. 5 Jones College split a doubleheader with Holmes here Saturday afternoon on “Sophomore Day” at Community Bank Park.

Chase Russell (Madison Central) pitched 6.2 shutout innings in game one as the Bobcats won, 4-3. In game two, the Bulldogs defeated Jones, 17-6.

Bobcats cruise past East Central in Region 23 opener

Jones College eased past East Central 5-0 in the opening match of the NJCAA Women’s Region 23 Championship here Thursday morning at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.

The top-seeded Bobcats will face No. 4 seed Northwest in a 10 a.m. semifinal match on Friday. The Lady Rangers defeated No. 5 seed Hinds, 5-1.

No. 10 Bobcats prep for region event with win over No. 18 Coyotes

Tenth-ranked Jones College blanked No. 18 Coastal Alabama-South 9-0 here Friday afternoon at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.

Jones, 13-0, will now prepare to host the Region 23 Tournament, which will take place April 10-12.
