Hinds stuns No. 12 Bobcats, 17-16

The Hinds Eagles surprised No. 12 Jones College 17-16 here Thursday night at Joe Renfroe Stadium.

It was the first victory of the season for Hinds. The Eagles are now 1-5 overall, 1-2 in the MACCC South Division. The Bobcats fall to 3-3 overall, 1-2 in division play.

Bobcats finish fourth in Meridian event

The Jones College Bobcats finished fourth in the Jim Redgate Invitational here Tuesday at Briarwood Golf Club.

Jones improved 14 shots during Tuesday’s second round. The Bobcats posted a 305-291 – 596 to finish just two shots out of second place in the 11-team tournament.

Turnovers doom Bobcats in 35-22 loss at Holmes

No. 7 Jones College piled up 539 yards of total offense vs. Holmes here Thursday night at Ras Branch Stadium.

But five Bobcat turnovers led directly to five touchdowns as the Bulldogs posted a 35-22 victory.

The No. 7 Bulldogs remain unbeaten at 5-0, while Jones falls to 3-2.
