No. 8 Jones smashes seven home runs in sweep of No. 11 Bulldogs

Five different Jones College Bobcats combined for seven home runs in a conference-opening sweep at No. 19 Holmes here Thursday afternoon.

No. 8 Jones won the opener, 7-4, and slugged its way to a 16-4 win in the nightcap.

The Bobcats improved to 14-6, 2-0 MACCC while Holmes dropped to 14-8, 0-2.

Bobcats advance to Region 23 semifinals

LJ Hackman (Columbus) scored 19 of his career-high 22 points in the first half and Dimp and Ky Pernell (Horn Lake) added double-doubles to help Jones College dart past Mississippi Gulf Coast, 87-59, for a ninth straight win here Thursday night at A.B. Howard Gymnasium.

No. 17 Bobcats split four games in Panama City

Under the direction of first-year head coach Tori Dew, the 17th-ranked Jones College softball team split its opening weekend in Panama City, Florida.

Jones, 2-2, dropped both games Friday before bouncing back Saturday with a pair of wins.

The Bobcats open a six-game homestand Friday, Feb. 9 against Snead State.
