Jones College’s Avery Thomas II has been named the MACCC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.
Thomas, a 6-foot-7 freshman forward from Terry High School, averaged a ‘double-double’ for the Bobcats last week. He averaged 23.5 points and 10.0 rebounds per game.
In a 91-71 win over Mississippi Gulf Coast, Thomas had 22 points and seven rebounds. In a 90-83 victory at Bishop State, he had 25 points and 13 rebounds. He made 16-of-28 shots from the floor (57 percent), 4-of-8 from 3-point range (50 percent) and 11-of-12 free throws (92 percent).
The No. 12 Bobcats (10-2) will play their final two games before the Christmas holiday break with games at Three Rivers (Missouri) on Dec. 13 and Mineral Area College (Missouri) on Dec. 14.
