The VFW Post #4982 is hosting a Come and Go Reception to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Desert Storm/Desert Shield at the Multi-Purpose Building on April 23 from 2 – 4 p.m.
All Desert Storm/Desert Shield veterans, spouses and family members are encouraged to come out for this anniversary reception of the 786th Transportation Unit’s deployment 25 years ago.
The unit was alerted and activated in November 1990 and arrived in Saudi Arabia three days after the Desert Storm ground war began. They remained on active duty serving overseas in Saudi Arabia from January until May 1991.
Members of the 786th were deployed to Ft. Stewart, Georgia and then most of the unit was deployed overseas.
