The annual Jay’s Taxidermy Battle of the Bucks Outdoor Day will be held Saturday, March 4 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Multi Purpose Building in Quitman. There will be lots of vendors and activities for adults as well as children.
The 2016 winning deer mounts will be announced at 2 p.m. Also the Mississippi State Record “Fulton Buck” will be on display.
The MSU Deer Labs will be at 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. Topics to be discussed will include buck selective harvesting, aging on the hoof, and nutrition (planting and feeding).
Special guest Spook Spann from the Sportsman Channel “I Am Lethal” TV series will be here as well.
Vendors on hand will include: Dew Outdoors, B&B Calls, QDMA, Quitman Sporting Goods, Marvin’s, Size Matters Hunting, A&J Cutlery, Sew What Thread & Ink, and Premier Auto Sales.
The Outdoor Day includes free admission and door prizes every 1/2 hour. BBQ sandwich plates will be available for purchase.
