The February term of the Grand Jury ended last week in circuit court with over 73 true bills of indictments and 12 no true bills.
An indictment returned by the grand jury does not indicate guilt; it is a formal charge against a person in a criminal case.
True bill of indictment means there was evidence to formally charge a person with the crime. A no true bill means it was not enough evidence to formally charge a person.

Members of the grand jury also inspected county owned buildings and returned the following report:
Clarke County Jail: The investigators and sheriff’s office staff needs more office space. The drain in the jail yard needs to be fixed and secured; there is not enough space in the jail for the number of inmates that are being housed; female inmates are using cardboard over windows; jail staff cannot see inside the cells; the drunk tank needs bars or safety glass over the windows; floor tiles need to be fixed in the kitchen; boiler inspection is not up to date; lighter fluid and oven cleaner seem to be in a dangerous place in the kitchen; electrical panel boxes need to be closed and locked.
