Johnathan L. Grayson, 26, son of Tunya M. Grayson of Chicago, IL, and grandson of Mattie L. Grayson-Owens of Quitman, MS, was shot and killed on June 11, 2020, while sitting in his vehicle waiting for his fiancé to come out of her apartment in Goodyear, AZ.
In the year of 2010, Johnathan received several awards from the National Council of Negro Women under the guardianship of Ms. Daisy McKenzie. Johnathan entered Quitman High School and excelled in academics and JROTC. His school counselors, Mia McDonald and Teri Frazier, recommended him to Tougaloo College where he was presented the Presidential Academic Scholarship. He later became the president of his fraternity, Phi Beta Sigma.
Johnathan’s goal was neither to be a doctor or lawyer, but felt that being a psychiatrist was for him. His goal was to help those who are incapable of helping themselves.
Johnathan leaves behind two sons, family, friends and many loved ones.
