Mississippi Highway Patrol and Clarke County Sheriff’s Department worked tirelessly last night to apprehend a man and woman who had stolen a vehicle from Tuscaloosa, Alabama and fled into Mississippi.
MHP was called by Alabama authorities that a stolen Chevrolet SUV was traveling I – 20 headed into Mississippi and the occupants had allegedly been involved in a robbery.
The robbery suspect and a female accomplice had stolen a vehicle in Alabama in which they wrecked. Then, they took another vehicle at gunpoint and fled in that SUV into Mississippi.
The two suspects traveled west on I – 20 into Mississippi. With the help of OnStar, authorities were able to keep track of the stolen vehicle. OnStar was then able to disable the vehicle near Enterprise and MHP and CCSO attempted the traffic stop. The two subjects fled into the woods on foot and hid out until MHP helicopter was able to locate them using the night camera in the woods near County Road 334.
MHP will release the names of those suspects soon.
