Barnett Independent Church, which is located just south of Pachuta on Highway 11, traveled to Meridian for their first mission of the year to help the homeless and less fortunate.
On Saturday January 27th thirty-two people from the church arrived at Love’s Kitchen in Meridian before daylight at 5:30 A.M on a cold dark morning with ten vehicles loaded with supplies that had been donated by people who care. The congregation got together for a prayer and the work started. Tables were set up, racks were set up to hang clothes on, clothes were put on hangers and hung up, and tables were neatly stocked with supplies. All of this was done in forty-five minutes.
Around daylight the homeless started arriving from out of the woods around the kitchen and God started working through everyone that was there. When someone needed something we thought we didn’t have, we would miraculously find that item in a box we hadn’t open or find something that we could substitute for it. A lot of tears were seen in people’s eyes during the day. At noon all the supplies were exhausted, if we just helped one person it was worth all of the work. Glory goes to God.
Each month of the year Barnett Independent Church will have a mission. If you have a home church, please attend and support it. If you don’t have a church, you have one now. We welcome everyone, if you have problems in your life, guess what? Everyone does, we all have problems but the Lord Jesus Christ can take care of all of them. Come as you are, we will take everyone no matter what your situation, because we know God can change it for you.
February’s mission is going to be gathering supplies for Care Lodge Domestic Violence Shelter this is a non-profit agency to help people that are victims of domestic violence.
Barnett Independent Church does not have a membership role. Our saying is “if you attended three times” you are home folks. We are an independent church, come inside and work on your relationship with God.
