The Clarke County Sheriff’s Department has two individuals in custody and looking for three other suspects following a rash of burglaries that have occurred in the county, Stonewall and City of Quitman in the last week.
The two people arrested and charged is one juvenile and one adult, but because the investigation is still active, investigators are not releasing the names or any additional information until the investigation has been completed.
A total of eight burglaries are being investigated; four of which occurred Friday night on County Road 140 with the burglary of three automobiles and one outside building. Another burglary occurred in Stonewall and the other three were auto burglaries in the City of Quitman around Terral Lane. Items stolen from the vehicles included purses, wallets and guns.
“The information we received from Friday night’s burglaries is what has helped us to solve the others and our investigators are working diligently to complete this investigation and get the other suspects in custody,” said Chief Deputy Barry White.
As a reminder, law enforcement would like to remind citizens to not leave valuable items in the vehicles.
We will follow up with any information as it becomes available from the Sheriff’s Department.
