Explore Mississippi during the Bicentennial Year with the Official "Bucket List"
MISSISSIPPI — For locals and visitors seeking to explore the best of authentic Mississippi in 2017, the creators of Eat Jackson, Eat MS Coast and Eat Y’all present the MISSISSIPPI LIST (MississippiList.com), released today.
The MISSISSIPPI LIST is a Mississippi adventurer’s “Bucket List for the Year” featuring 201 of the best places to eat, stay and play across the state, organized by region. The list was compiled from thousands of responses to a local reader survey that were curated by “Eat” group’s expert concierge team in celebration of Mississippi’s Bicentennial Year.
The Mississippi List will promote the highlighted restaurants, destinations and entertainment venues on the new web site and downloadable “bucket list.” Enter to win giveaways and “behind the scenes” spotlights and interviews will be highlighted on the site throughout the year. In addition, the official list will be available soon in a foldout brochure available in hotel and visitor center rack stands, and in the next few weeks, included businesses will receive a complimentary promotional “kit” featuring a window decal, certificate, and promotional materials to help them maximize their recognition among the state’s best.
“I must admit that even with so much input from our readers, it’s been a significant challenge to narrow this list to only 201 places. Our team has enjoyed some fun - and heated - discussions in our effort to narrow down literally thousands of the worthy options suggested into a list of only 201,” said Andy Chapman, creator of The Mississippi List as well as Eat Jackson, Eat MS Coast and Eat Y’all.
“Mississippi is a premier culinary destination, and The Mississippi List is a great way to help visitors kick start their explorations of the state,” said Craig Ray, Tourism Director at Visit Mississippi.
“We love how the list not only showcases the restaurant staples of each region, but also shines light on new chefs, unique lodging and one-of-a-kind recreation opportunities. The Mississippi List is a great guide for exploring Mississippi during the Bicentennial year,” Ray added.
The 2017 list will only last one year, and a 2018 updated list is already in the planning stages. Visitors to the website who register their email address will be invited to nominate their favorite places for inclusion on the 2018 list.
The Mississippi List: 201 Places to Eat, Stay and Play is presented by Visit Mississippi and made possible by the support of other partners including Beau Rivage and Visit Ridgeland as well as June Bugg Rub, Mississippi Blue Rice, Southern Peanut Growers, Southeastern Dairy Farmers and Sugar Taylor Sauce.
