Final report of the September 2019 Grand Jury of Clarke County, MS
We, the Grand Jury of the September 2019 term of the Circuit Court of Clarke County, MS, taken from the body of good, and lawful men and women of said County and State, present this our report of investigations and recommendation. We have thus far been in session three days and have examined nine witnesses and returned eighty-five (85) true bills of indictments into open court and five (5) no true bills of indictment. We make the following recommendations:
Clarke County Jail
We, the Grand Jury, inspected this facility and found that the facility was nice and clean. The interior walls are peeling and need a fresh coat of paint, as well as the door to the drunk tank. Some of the air vents in the facility had mold on them. Additionally the windows in the women’s cells need better covering as they are currently covered with cardboard. The facility appeared to be safe and secure.
The staff was friendly.
