The Board of Supervisors approved the hiring of Mary Mosley effective March 1 as the new Purchase Clerk for the county. Mosley will replace longtime clerk Suzanne Dennis who will be leaving in May.
In other business, the board briefly discussed Bell Demolition. Bell Demolition was supposed to begin the demolition process of the Quitman Knitting Mills building in December 2016. This project is still scheduled to get underway, but has been delayed due to previous obligations from the demolition company. Although there were some amendments to the original contract, there is no contractual reason for the delays and work hopefully will begin soon on the project.
