Enterprise Upsets Unbeaten Bay Springs

This past Friday night, the Enterprise Bulldogs, (6-4,2-2) faced off against the Bay Springs Bulldogs, (7-3,3-1) in an away, conference game. The game started off with Enterprise receiving the ball first and having to punt after a few plays. Bay Springs started their first drive off on their own 25 yard line, but was stopped after Enterprise’s defense forced a fumble that was recovered by Zack Wilkerson. Enterprise started on the 47 yard line and marched downfield to score on a 2 yard touchdown run by Derrick Moore but a failed 2 point conversion run kept the score at 6-0. Bay Springs responded with their own scoring drive after Bay Springs’ Damerious Jones scored on a 4 yard touchdown run and a successful point after touchdown kick forced the score in Bay Springs favor 7-6. Enterprise got the ball back and drove downfield to the 3 yard line, but the clock expired bringing the first quarter to an end.
The second quarter opened with excitement as Enterprise scored on a 3 yard touchdown by Chris Milsap and a successful 2 point conversion run by Derrick Moore made the score 14-7. Bay Springs answered with another scoring drive after Jaylon Jones scored on a 3 yard touchdown run and a successful point after touchdown kick tied the score up 14-14. Enterprise continued their success with another touchdown drive that ended with a 2 yard touchdown run by Zack Wilkerson but a failed point after touchdown kick kept the score at 20-14. Bay Springs continued to answer Enterprise with a 37 yard touchdown pass from Caderius Lee to Damerious Jones but a missed point after touchdown kick kept the score tied at 20-20. Enterprise got the ball back but was unable to score and had to punt the ball back to Bay Springs. Bay Springs scored on a last second 44 yard touchdown pass from Caderius Lee to Jaylon Jones but a failed 2 point conversion run kept the score 26-20 headed into halftime.
Bay Springs opened up their first offensive drive to start the third quarter as they continued their success by scoring on a 14 yard touchdown run by Jaylon Jones but a failed 2 point conversion kept the score at 32-20. Enterprise responded with a touchdown drive of their own with an 18 yard touchdown run by Derrick Moore but a failed 2 point conversion run kept the score at 32-26. Bay Springs got the ball back and drove downfield to score on a 13 yard touchdown pass from Caderius Lee to Daniel Davis and a successful 2 point conversion run by Jaylon Jones forced the score to 40-26 in favor of Bay Springs. The third quarter ended with Enterprise down two touchdowns looking to score.
Enterprise opened up the fourth quarter by scoring on a 16 yard touchdown run by Chris Milsap but a failed two point conversion run kept the score at 40-32. Bay Springs got the ball back, but a fired up Enterprise defense forced a turnover on downs to give Enterprise the ball back. Enterprise capitalized on the opportunity provided by the defense by scoring on a 1 yard touchdown drive but a failed 2 point conversion run kept Bay Springs ahead 40-38 with 3:20 minutes left in the game. Enterprise kicked an onside kick that was recovered by Enterprise’s own Kaleb Fisher. Enterprise then drove downfield and scored on a 5 yard touchdown run by Derrick Moore but a failed 2 point conversion kept the score at 44-40 in favor of Enterprise with 29 seconds left in the game. Bay Springs got the ball back but was intercepted on the first play by Enterprise’s River Kidd to seal the win for Enterprise and hand Bay Springs their first district loss of the year.
Enterprise will now look to continue their success as they play Newton at L.J. Davis Field this Friday at 7’oclock. This will be Enterprise’s Senior Night game to honor this year’s graduating football class. Come out and support your Bulldogs this Friday night.
