The Enterprise Bulldogs (4-2, 0-0) faced off against the Scott Central Rebels (4-2,0-0) this past Friday night in a non-conference home game. The Bulldogs were fresh off a win and looking to continue their success against the Rebels.
The first quarter was a defensive matchup between the two teams as neither team found their way to the end zone. On their opening drive, the Rebels were forced to punt a few plays into the drive. The Bulldogs got the ball on their own 42 yard line and drove downfield, but they were stopped short of scoring from a turnover on downs. Scott Central started their drive on their own 21 yard line, but a quick 3 and out forced punt by the Bulldogs stopped the Rebels from gaining momentum.
The Enterprise offense started on their own 42 yard, but fumbled on the first play of the drive, giving Scott Central the ball on the 44 yard line. The Bulldogs’ defense kept up its success against the Rebels with a Chris Milsap interception that gave the Bulldogs the ball back on their own 28 yard line. The first quarter ended with the Bulldogs closing in on the Scott Central 37 yard line.
The second quarter started out with Scott Central forcing another turnover on downs and recovering the ball on their own 36 yard line. The Rebels drove down field and capped off the drive with a 41 yard touchdown pass from TJ Wash to Ken Patrick, and a successful point after kick putting the Rebels up 7-0.
The Bulldogs responded by starting their drive on the 37 yard line and marching down field to score on a Chris Milsap 17 yard touchdown run, and a successful 2 point conversion run by Lane Kennedy, putting the Bulldogs ahead 8-7. Scott Central continued its success on offense with another touchdown drive that ended with a 47 yard touchdown pass from TJ Wash to Itavius Burks, and a successful point after kick, putting the Rebels up 14-7.
The Rebel defense forced another punt, and then scored on a 70 yard touchdown pass from TJ Walsh to Itavius Burks, but a failed point after kick kept the score at 20-8. The second quarter ended with the Rebels up 20-8.
The third quarter opened up with Enterprise starting their drive at the 20 yard line, but their drive was cut short after the Rebels forced a fumble and recovered it at the 31 yard line. With great field position, the Rebels scored on a short drive that ended with a 9 yard touchdown pass from TJ Wash to Ken Butler, but a failed point after kick kept the score at 26-8.
The Bulldogs got back the ball looking to change the score, but a fumble on the first play recovered by Scott Central put the Bulldogs in a bind. The Bulldogs’ defense forced a fumble on the first play of Scott Central’s drive and recovered the ball on their own 38 yard line. The Bulldogs’ drive was cut short again; however, as the Rebels forced another fumble and recovered the ball on their own 10 yard line. The third quarter came to an end with the Rebels up 26-8 and driving down field again.
The fourth quarter started with the Bulldogs forcing Scott Central to turnover on downs and starting their own drive on the 40 yard line. The Bulldogs’ drive came to an end after the Rebels forced a punt and received the ball at their own 28 yard line. The Bulldogs’ defense looked to keep the score the same and forced the Rebels to punt the ball away.
Enterprise took over at their own 44 yard line and drove downfield, but was denied a score when the Rebels forced them to turnover on downs. The Rebels got the ball back at the 49 yard line, but had to punt after the Bulldogs’ defense stopped their drive. The Enterprise offense took over at the 31 yard line, but could not find much rhythm and was forced to punt the ball away again. With little time left on the clock, the Rebels knelt with the ball to run the clock out and seal the 26-8 loss for the Bulldogs.
Enterprise will now try to shake off this loss as they play their division rival Clarkdale this Friday night at home. This game will be the first district game for Enterprise. Come out and support your Bulldogs this Friday night at 7 o’clock.
