This past Friday night, the Enterprise Bulldogs hosted the Heidelberg Oilers. The Bulldogs looked to get their second district win against the Oilers.
Heidelberg would start the game with the ball on the 49-yard line. The Oilers quickly drive down the field and scored with a two yard touchdown run from Oilers #12. The two-point conversion is successful, and Heidelberg takes the lead 8-0.
Enterprise starts their drive at the 22-yard line. After two big runs by Derrick Moore, Lane Kennedy finds the endzone for a 12 yard touchdown run; however, the two-point conversion is no good, and Enterprise trails 8-6. The Enterprise defense forces the Oilers to a three and out; the punt is downed on the 23-yard line.
Big runs by Lane Kennedy and Chris Millsap set up an 18 yard touchdown run by Lane Kennedy putting the Bulldogs ahead 12-6. Heidelberg starts their drive at the 34-yard line, but cannot put anything together and are forced to punt. Enterprise takes the punt at the 47-yard line and proceeds to drive all the way to the Oilers’ 11-yard line before the end of the quarter.
The second quarter starts with an 11 yard touchdown run by Derrick Moore, but the two-point conversion is no good, and the Bulldogs extend their lead, 18-8.
Good coverage on the kickoff makes Heidelberg take the ball at the 1-yard line. The Oilers are forced to punt from their own 4-yard line. Enterprise takes over at the 37-yard line. The Bulldogs make a quick drive down the field and score on a 2 yard touchdown run by Chris Millsap. The two-point conversion is good, and the Bulldogs extend the lead to 26-8.
Enterprise tries an onside kick, and it is recovered by Braxton Glebe. With the ball on the 48-yard line, Lane Kennedy has a 47-yard rush to put the ball on the 1-yard line. Dalton Baxley finds the endzone with a 1-yard quarterback sneak, but the two-point conversion is no good, making the score 32-8. Heidelberg quickly answers back with a 58 yard touchdown run by the Oilers’ quarterback #1. The two-point conversion is good, and the score is 32-16.
On the next drive, Enterprise takes the ball at the 36-yard line and drives all the way down the field to the 1-yard line. There Dalton Baxley finishes the drive with a 1-yard quarterback sneak. The two-point conversion is no good, and the score is 38-16. Heidelberg starts their drive on the 40-yard line where they work their way down the field to the 31-yard line with the help of some Enterprise penalties.
Here the Oilers quarterback #1 connects with their #2 for a 31-yard touchdown pass. The two-point conversion is good, and the score is 38-24 with Enterprise still in the lead. Enterprise returns the kickoff to the 42-yard line, but cannot score before they go into halftime.
Enterprise starts the third quarter on the 18-yard line, but cannot get going as they are forced to a three and out. Enterprise punts and Heidelberg takes over at the 44-yard line. On the second play of the drive, the Oilers’ quarterback #1 connects with their #2 again for a 45-yard touchdown pass, but their two-point conversion is no good with a score now of 38-30.
A touchback on the kickoff puts the ball on the 20-yard line. Enterprise then has an 80-yard, 7 minute drive that ends with a 4 yard touchdown run by Lane Kennedy, but again their two-point conversion attempt is no good. Enterprise still leads 44-30.
Heidelberg starts with the ball on the 47-yard line. Early in the drive, the Oilers convert on a fourth down situation that opens the door for a 14-yard touchdown pass. The two-point conversion is good, and the Oilers trail 44-38. The ensuing kickoff goes into the endzone for a touchback.
Enterprise begins the fourth quarter trying to put together a drive, but is ultimately forced to punt. Heidelberg starts with the ball on their own 10-yard line. One big run, with a penalty at the end of the run against the Bulldogs, gets the Oilers to the Bulldogs’ 24-yard line. Heidelberg caps off the drive with a 6-yard touchdown run by their #1. However, their two-point conversion is no good, but the score is now tied 44-44.
The Bulldogs start with the ball on the 20-yard line, but three costly penalties force a fourth down, and the punt attempt is blocked by the Oilers #14 and recovered at the 3-yard line. The Oilers make excellent use of the field position and score with a touchdown run from their #5. The two-point conversion is no good, and the Oilers lead 50-44.
Enterprise gets the ball at the 20-yard line after the touchback, and they finally get a drive going and march down the field to the 3-yard line where Derrick Moore finds the endzone. Their two-point conversion is good, and Enterprise now leads 52-50.
Heidelberg returns the ball to the 34-yard line where they start their drive to try to win the game. Enterprise looks to have the Oilers stopped, but a successful 4th and 9 situation gives Heidelberg the fire they needed. The Oilers drive down the field and finish with an 8-yard touchdown pass from #1 to #15. The two-point conversion is no good, and Heidelberg takes the lead 56-52.
Enterprise gets the ball on the 40-yard line with four seconds on the clock after an attempted onside kick does not work for Heidelberg. In a last ditch effort, the Bulldogs launch the ball downfield in a Hail Mary, but it does not work, and the Bulldogs fall 56-52.
Enterprise travels to Bay Springs this Friday night, and hope to redeem themselves with a much-needed district win. Come support your EHS Bulldogs!
