The Panthers won the toss and would receive the football. #20 Keegan Pearson starts the game with a good kick. The Panthers begin their drive on the 23 yard line. On 1st down #26 Tydrekius Carpenter picks up a 1st down on the next series. #11 Jed Lewis loses 19 yards while on 3rd down. Lewis has a short gain bringing up 4th down. The Panthers wisely punt the ball. #2 Jaycolby Williams gets off a good punt, downed on the Trojan 35 yard line.
The Panther’s defense holds the Trojans to a 3rd and 1 yard to go when the Trojans convert and pick up a 1st down. The Trojans quickly pick up another 1st down when a Panther personal foul leaves them 1st and goal. On the very next play the Trojans score with 4:19 left in the 1st quarter. The PAT is good, Northeast Lauderdale 7 Quitman 0.
After the kick, #3 Dontavious Hall returns the football to the Panther’s 46 yard line. On first down Lewis goes up the middle for a 9 yard gain when #12 Keshan Johnson picks up a 1st down. #26 Carpenter has a 6 yard gain. When the Panthers find themselves in a 4th down situation, Head Coach Steven Bynum calls a timeout. On the next snap the Trojan defense comes up big and stops the Panthers for no gain.
The Trojans take over on downs at their own 6 yard line. On the second play the Trojan quarterback drops back and connects with #3 Jarvis Cook for a 29 yard gain. #54 Chris Cooley hits #3 Cook for a Tackle For Loss on the next play. The first quarter ends with a score of Northeast Lauderdale 7 Quitman 0.
The Panthers defense forces the Trojans to a 3 and out and take over after a short punt. Lewis began to work up the middle and off tackle picking up a 1st down. On the next series Lewis hits Carpenter on a slant pass for another 1st down. #26 runs the ball in for a touchdown with 7:12 left in the 2nd quarter. #16 Brijuan Dace’s PAT is good and the score is now tied at 7 to 7.
On the next series after #2 kicks, the Panthers defense hold the Trojans to a 3 and out. The Trojans hold the Panthers to a 3 and out. The defense on both sides have seemed to find their rhythm. After #2 Williams’ kick the Panthers pick up a penalty to give the Trojans a 1st down.
On the next series the Trojans march down to the Panthers 16 yard line when #8 Lane Gordan connects in the corner of the end zone with his receiver for a touchdown and the PAT is good. Northeast Lauderdale 14 Quitman 7 with 1:00 left on the clock.
After the Panthers receive the kick and run a few plays time expires on the 2nd quarter with the score the same.
On to the 3rd quarter. The Trojans receive and come out with a game plan to move the football. After taking over the ball on the 50 yard line and picking up a quick 1st down and another 1st down, the Trojans find themselves on the Panther’s 19 yard line. On 4th down and 4 yards to go the Panther’s defense stops the Trojans and take the ball on downs. The Panthers start their attack. Lewis finds his team in a 1 and 20 yards to gain when he drops back and finds #13 Latrell Hatten for a long sideline pass. #26 Carpenter picks up a 1st down and #4 Saveonne Evans picks up 5 yards when #16 Brijuan Dace scores from 6 yards out. The PAT is good with 2:09 left in the 3rd quarter the score now is tied Northeast Lauderdale 14 Quitman 14.
After the Panthers kick, the Trojans take over and on 4th down the center and quarterback had a bad exchange and the Panthers take over on the 10 yard line. #4 Evans takes the ball to the 1 yard line and #16 Dace scores a touchdown. Time expires and Dace’s PAT is no good. At the end of the 3rd quarter Quitman 20 Northeast Lauderdale 14.
After #2 Williams kicks, the Trojans pick up 2 first downs. On 2nd down #5 Taderious Chapman forces a fumble and #8 Jerry Gaines recovers for the Panthers. The Panthers start out moving the ball and quickly find themselves in a 4th and 2 when the Panthers call time out and decide to discuss the 4th down play. #11 Lewis goes under center and hands the ball to #16 Dace for a 62 yard score with 5:33 left in the 4th quarter. #16 Dace is handed the two point conversion for the score, Panthers 28 Northeast Lauderdale 14.
After the kick the Panther defense come up big with #54 Cooley stopping the run in the backfield. #6 Harris intercepts the ball near the goal line and has a good runback. The Panthers run the clock out with a score of Quitman Panthers 28 Northeast Lauderdale Trojans 14.
