The Mayor and Board of Aldermen met in a regular meeting on Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at 6:00 p.m. in the Enterprise Town Hall.
Mayor Chancelor recognized Judge Jim Potuk. Judge Potuk informed the board of the benefits of joining the Clarke County Chamber of Commerce.
Mayor Chancelor recognized Superintendent Josh Perkins. Discussion was made on a School Resource Officer.
Mayor Chancelor presented the following items of business:
(1) a resolution requesting assistance from MDWFP in the construction of a boat ramp within the city limits. A motion was made by Alderman Darrel Phillips, seconded by Alderman Talmadge Gray and approved by all.
(2) Presented a copy of the Town's Noise Ordinance and stated that the board needs to look into
revising it.
Clerk Ruth Combest presented the following:
1. Rescind the vote to pay the claim to the Volunteer Fire Department in the amount of $5316.97 for repair of fire trucks. Motion made by Alderman Heath Kasselman, seconded by Alderman Ben Moore and approved by all.
2. Motion made by Alderman Talmadge Gray to amend the budget for the VFD in the amount of $5316.97. Seconded by Alderman Heath Kasselman and approved by all.
3. Motion made by Alderman Heath Kasselman to reimburse the VFD $5316.97 for repairs to the fire truck. Seconded by Alderman Ben Moore and approved by all.
4. Motion made by Alderman Heath Kasselman to approve Ordinance #88 which changes the cut off policy for water and sewer accounts. Seconded by Alderman Talmadge Gray and approved by all.
5. A new policy that all business brought before the board from all departments needs to be turned into the clerk by Monday week preceding the monthly board meeting, so that research by the clerk and board of aldermen can be done prior to the meeting. Any business not properly reviewed prior to the meeting will be held over to the next month's meeting. Motion was made by Alderman Heath Kasselman to accept this policy. Seconded by Aldeman Ben Moore and approved by all.
6. Motion was made by Alderman Darrel Phillips to purchase Privilege License Software from BBL Seconded by Alderman Talmadge Gray and approved by all.
7. Motion made by Alderman Darrel Phillips to accept the engagement letter presented by Stephen Myrick, CPA in the amount of $3600.00 to perform the annual Municipal Compilation as required by the State. Seconded by Alderman Heath Kasselman and approved by all.
8. Motion made by Alderman Darrel Phillips, seconded by Alderman Heath Kasselman and
approved by all to remove inventory item #0166 from the list. Batteries can no longer be
purchased for the X26P taser.
Police Chief Bradley McNeece presented the following business:
1. asked to go to the Police Chief's Conference in Biloxi on June 14-17, 2022. Motion for travel was made by Alderman Heath Kasselman, seconded by Alderman Talmadge Gray and approved by all.
2. Part time police officers Austin Touchstone and Zach Joyner have resigned.
3. Hire Barry White as a part time officer. Motion made by Alderman Ben Moore, seconded by Alderman Heath Kasselman and approved by all.
4. Plan to purchase two tasers and two body cameras with the upcoming JAG Grant.
Motion was made by Alderman Darrel Phillips, seconded by Alderman Talmadge Gray and approve by all to approve travel for Attorney Billy Mitts to the Municipal Attorney's summer conference.
Old Business: paying the District Attorney Salary Supplements will cause an increase in the Worker's Compensation premium for the Town. The District Attorney's office has agreed to pay the increase at a later date after the Town has been billed for it.
Upon motion being made by Alderman Ben Moore, and second by Alderman Heath Kassel voted unanimously to adjourn the meeting.
Meeting are open to the public and are held every first Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. at Town Hall.
