The mayor and board of aldermen for The Town of Shubuta met in regular session July 5 at 5 p.m.
Clerk Kutrinah informed the board that the chief of police still had not returned the keys to the police car. Mayor Peebles said he would get the keys. The board also said they needed the handcuffs and holster returned as well.
Mauricka McKenzie with Cornerstone Engineering informed the board about redoing city hall. He requested ideas from the board and that a 20% fee is charged for services, so that will leave about $180,000 for construction. He also informed the board about the MDEQ grant application for the water and sewer.
The board voted to get a town debit card assigned to the clerk.
Felicia Outlaw requested that the business privilege license fee be waived since her business is a non-profit. The city clerk will call the attorney to check on this.
Alderwoman Latricia McCarty informed the board that the multipurpose building needed work and should not be rented out until the problems are fixed. The building has reservations through August already. The board voted to accommodate those reservations but not accept anymore until the building is fixed.
The meeting was adjourned.
The town meetings are open to the public and are held the first Monday of each month at 5 p.m. at the Shubuta Multi Purpose Building.
